There is more work than there are hands

Most of what we need is labour, tools and steady small support. If you can give any of those, there is a place for you on the mountain.

Community membership

Membership is how the association governs itself. Members vote, set quotas, and hold the executive committee to account.

Land-user household

Families in the nine member villages using communal forest or pasture.

Annual dues of 1,000 ALL per household. One vote per household in the village delegation. Firewood quota and grazing rights conditional on compliance with the management plan.

Livestock keeper

Shepherds and livestock families grazing communal pasture.

Annual dues of 1,500 ALL. Grazing rights allocated under the current calendar, access to winter seminars, veterinary referral, and priority for water-point works.

Supporting member

Environmental advocates, professionals and diaspora members from outside the villages.

Annual contribution of 3,000 ALL or more. Attendance at the assembly with voice, the annual stewardship report, and an open invitation to field days.

Ways to support

We publish where the money goes. In 2024, 79% of expenditure went to field operations, 13% to nursery stock, and 8% to administration.

One-time contribution

Any amount. €25 covers a hundred saplings raised in our own nursery; €150 covers a volunteer planting day including tools, transport and lunch for twenty people.

Recurring support

A standing monthly contribution is the most useful thing a distant supporter can give us. It pays the nursery through the months when nothing visible is happening.

Land stewardship sponsorship

Sponsor a defined parcel for three years. You receive the parcel's planting record, survival counts and photographs each April, and you are named in the annual report unless you prefer otherwise.

Gear and in-kind donation

Pickaxes, mattocks, planting bars, work gloves, fire beaters, GPS units, backpack sprayers and serviceable boots. Tools wear out faster than budgets replace them.

Making a contribution

Contributions are received by bank transfer to the association's account, held in the name of the registered association. Write to us at the address below and we will send the account details, our registration extract and a formal receipt for your records. We do not process card payments on this website and we never solicit contributions by unsolicited telephone call.

Volunteering

Field days run most weekends in the planting and firebreak seasons. No experience required; bring boots you do not mind ruining.

  1. 01

Write to us with your name, the months you are available, and whether you can reach Krujë independently.

  2. 02

We reply with the field calendar and the meeting point. Groups of more than six should give us three weeks' notice.

  3. 03

On the day: safety briefing, tools issued, work in pairs, lunch on the slope. Days run roughly 08:00 to 15:00.

  4. 04

International volunteers staying longer than a week are placed with a member household where possible.

Institutional & NGO partnership

We work with municipal forestry units, Albanian and regional environmental NGOs, universities placing students on fieldwork, and international donors funding erosion control and community forestry. We are a small association and we say so plainly: we can absorb project funding with proper reporting, but we will not accept a programme we do not have the field capacity to deliver honestly. Write to us and we will send our statute, registration extract, latest accounts and management plan summary.
